In 2003 Orazio Salati was invited to exhibit his mixed media paintings at the Florence Biennale in Firenze, Italy. “I submitted three large paintings using the photo peinture technique.Photo peinture is an 18th century process that blends and collages photographs, mixed media, and painting onto canvas.I extend the photographic image over the canvas with paint and brush, and use various techniques to create texture and depth.It was a humbling and exhilarating experience to have my work on display in the country of my birth.”
